The final block will take the form of a round table, moderated by journalist Javier Grégori (Cadena Ser), in which developments in the field of ageing will be discussed from the biomedical, psychosocial and technological perspectives, with input from Herminia Peraita (UNED), José Miguel Azcoitia (Tecnalia), Isabel Varela-Nieto (CSIC) and Antonio Martínez Maroto (IMSERSO).
The fall in the birth rate, combined with falling mortality at advanced ages, challenges our societies to achieve greater longevity without an increase in the number of ill and dependant persons, and that longer life spans are characterised by good health and activity. Fundación General CSIC has aligned itself with the main national and international research policies to promote activities framed by its Ageing, Disability and Illness strategic line.
