2nd CPAN Communicating Science Competition

CPAN, the National Particle, Astroparticle and Nuclear Physics Centre (Centro Nacional de Física de Partículas, Astropartículas y Nuclear), in conjunction with Fundación General CSIC, has announced the second edition of its science communication competition. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2011. The competition aims to stimulate the production of educational material aimed at the general public, high school pupils, and university students on the principles of science and technology and the progress being made in the fields the CPAN covers (particle, astroparticle, nuclear and theoretical physics).

2nd CPAN Communicating Science CompetitionThe competition is open to researchers at public and private research organisations, doctoral students and undergraduates, secondary school teachers and professional science communicators. Both individual and group submissions are allowed, and competitors can opt for one or more forms of submission.

This year the competition has five categories:

  • Popular science articles: With a first prize €1,000 and €500 for the runner up.
  • Websites and/or blogs: With a first prize €1,000 and €500 for the runner up.
  • Videos: With a first prize €1,500 and €600 for the runner up.
  • Experiments and/or demonstrations: With a first prize €1,500 and €600 for the runner up.
  • Work published in the media: With a first prize €1000 and €500 for the runner up.
